St Peter's SchoolHead of ArtArt and MentoringSecondary

I graduated from the University of Warwick with a History of Art degree and went on to complete a PGCE in Art & Design. I began teaching at St Peter's School in 2001 and became Head of Department in 2007.  During my time as Head of Art I have made significant changes to the curriculum across all year groups to ensure a productive work environment for both students and staff.  The ambition to develop an inspiring skill based KS3 curriculum which provided greater freedom in preparation for higher levels of independent study at GCSE and A level whilst also enabling the growth of focused assessment and feedback opportunities has had a positive impact on student engagement, progress and results.

I have been an ITT mentor for the past 8 years; I enjoy supporting trainees at this early stage of their career immensely and it is a valuable opportunity to work collaboratively and extend my practice.  I have been a Teaching & Learning Coach for the past two years, working across the school to support the improvement of the effectiveness of classroom teachers and middle leaders focusing on teaching methods and behaviour management, curriculum planning and department progress tracking.  Alongside this as a member of the school Quality Assurance team I have supported department reviews to help improve standards across the curriculum.
